Richard Wigmore is a well-known music writer, broadcaster and lecturer. After reading modern languages at Cambridge and studying music at the Guildhall School of Music and the Salzburg Mozarteum, Richard combined a career as a singer, in Britain and on the continent, with writing and translating.
He writes regularly for Gramophone and BBC Music Magazines, gives pre-concert talks at the Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall and other venues, and has taught Lieder classes at Birkbeck College, the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall. Richard often appears on Radio 3’s Record Review, where he has presented over 60 Building a Library features. He runs his own music study events in the UK and lectures frequently in Salzburg, Vienna and elsewhere.
Richard’s publications include Schubert: the complete song texts and the Faber Pocket Guide to Haydn. He is currently working on a book on Schumann.
